Tappa 24: Suin - Cluny

 

È arrivato un altro giorno importante per il mio Cammino: Cluny. Una delle abbazie più importanti d’Europa nella storia del primo millennio. Buona colazione con pane a pagnotta, burro, marmellata e te preparata da Sofie. In compagnia di una miriade di mosche. Mi dice che per andare in stradine tranquille è meglio salire a Suin. Ok, cominciamo a provare a salire. Suin è su un cocuzzolo e la salita è di più di 3 km. Arrivo e vedo la vallata sotto. È un panorama che mi mancava. Fino ad ora non un metro di dislivello (forse qualcosa in Normandia). Ora dovrei essere sui 400 metri di altitudine. In cima al paese finisce la strada asfaltata e prosegue una carrareccia. Finalmente! Però il mio sesto senso mi dice che c’è qualcosa che non quadra. Il sole non dovrebbe essere lì. Mi guardo intorno e vedo, seminascosti dalla vegetazione, due piccoli segnali. Uno indica Cluny a 16 km. Per un sentierino trekking. Che avessi fatto tombola? Finalmente vegetazione che ti copre, ti bagna, ti graffia ma cammini su terra, sassi, fango. Mi ci fiondo contento ma il sentiero sbocca in una stradina asfaltata dopo mezzo chilometro.

Ancora molti saliscendi passando per microscopici centri abitati e poi finalmente, dopo una curva appare Cluny. Di corsa giungo in paese scoprendo che siamo in periodo di vacanze estive. Tantissimi turisti allegri e di varie nazionalità affollano il centro pedonale. Trovo un piccolo hotel proprio su questa stradina. Dal bar/ristorante su cui affaccia la finestra della mia camera salgono i rumori del pranzo e di un piccolo trio di cantante chitarrista, fisarmonica e contrabbasso canta in modo perfetto bellissime canzoni francesi. Questa è la parte bella del cammino. Mi addormento al piacevole suono di questa musica.

ENGLISH VERSION 

Another important day for my Path came: Cluny. One of the most important abbeys in Europe in the history of the first millennium. I have a good breakfast with loaf, butter, jam and tea prepared by Sofie. Together with a mass of flies. She tells me that it’s better to go up to Suin for reaching a quiet tiny streets. Ok, Let’s start to try to go up. Suin is on a summit and the slope is for more of 3 km. I arrive there and I see the valley below. It is a panorama that I haven’t seen before. Until now there wasn’t one meter of height difference (perhaps some of them were in Normandy). I should be at about 400 meters of altitude now. On the top of the country the asphalted road ends and a dirt road continues. Finally! However my sixth sense tells that there is something that it doesn’t figure. The sun should not be there. I look around me and I see, hidden by the vegetation, two small signposts. One points for a dirt trekking-road and I read that Cluny is 16 km far. Did I win to Bingo? The Vegetation covers me, bathes me, scratches me but I walk on the ground, on stones, on mud finally. I dash happy on this stretch but it ends in an asphalted road after half kilometer.

The road is all ups and downs going across microscopic inhabited villages but then, after a bend, Cluny appears finally. I come running to the village discovering that we are in the period of the summer vacations. Many tourists of various nationalities crowd the downtown. I find a small hotel just on this tiny street. You hear the noises of the lunch and of a small trio (a singer/guitarist, a squeeze box and a double-bass) from the cafe / restaurant on which there is the window of my room. This is the beautiful part of the path. I fall asleep with the pleasant sound of this music.
