Tappa 26: Mâcon - Bourg-en-Bresse

 

Vorrei non scrivere nulla di questa tappa. Lunga e di semplice trasferimento ma su una strada impossibile. Camion a non finire e come panorama campi di mais e di grano. Qualche campo comincia la mietitura. Moltissime zone industriali. Si può dire che fra una zona industriale e l’altra si può trovare un paesino. Arrivo affaticatissimo a Bourg en Bresse e vado subito all’Office de turisme. Hotel carissimi. E tutti pieni per il Tour de France. Ma non è a Mâcon la tappa? Si ma gli alberghi lì sono insufficienti. Però è rimasto un posto al solito Hotel de Ville (ogni grande paese ha un Hotel de Ville) a 110 €. Si, è interessante, ma vediamo in periferia. Ok, Europe Hotel. Telefoniamo. 29 €. È ancora caro, però! Per andarci a piedi sono 8 km. Ma non se ne parla proprio! Oppure c’è la navetta che parte dalla cattedrale ogni mezz’ora. Va bene. Corro alla cattedrale e la navetta è appena partita. La successiva mi porta all’hotel. Si tratta di un grande centro di aziende con una decina di hotel che si fanno concorrenza spietata. L’hotel non è male ma intorno ci sono solo aziende. Cioè non c’è nulla da mangiare. 

E allora? Allora tornare con un altro bus in paese, mangiare e ritornare. Vediamo: ore 18 per andare e ore 19:16 per tornare, l’ultimo. Corri corri, scappa scappa, come si fa a cenare alle 18:40? Mi devo ancora lavare, fare il bucato etc. Per cambiare ancora un kebab e prendo anche 5 prugne che ne ho proprio bisogno. Il tempo per la navetta. Finalmente in camera. Doccia, bucato, medicamenti vari, preparazione dello zaino e via a mangiare! Oggi non ho pranzato. Scendo nella reception e chiedo se per domani si può prendere il petit dejuner. Si, a 4 €. Ok. Tutto fatto, tranne la preparazione del percorso di domani. Si, in queste tappe così aride alla stanchezza fisica relativa al camminare si aggiunge lo stress organizzativo. Non è semplice scegliere il percorso. C’è il tizio che ti dice di andare da quella parte ma l’altro aggiunge che sa che la strada di congiungimento non c’è per cui è meglio andare per la provinciale… e tutta questa scena si svolge in francese. E coi francesi sono quasi alla pari: io non capisco loro quando parlano in fretta e loro non capiscono me quando parlo.

ENGLISH VERSION

I would not write anything about this stage. It’s long and a simple movement but on an impossible road. There are a lot of trucks and there are cornfields and wheat fields as panorama. There are a lot of industrial zones. There is, sometimes, a little village among the industrial zones. I arrive in Bourg en Bresse very tired and I go to the Office de turisme immediately. The hotels are expensive and all full for the Tour de France. But isn’t Mâcon the stage of the tour? yes but the hotels are insufficient there. However there is a room at the usual Hotel de Villas (every great country has a Hotel de Villas) at the price of 110 €. Ok, it is interesting, but I prefer to see in the outskirts. Ok there is the Europe Hotel. I phone. 29 €. It is still expensive, but I must do 8km to go afoot there. I can’t do it! Or there is the shuttle that departs from the cathedral every half an hour. It is all right. I run to the cathedral but the shuttle has just departed. The next one brings me to the hotel. It’s inside a great center of business with about ten hotel. The hotel is not bad but they are only firms around it. There is no place where I can eat something. What about now? Well, I return with another bus at the village, I eat and I return. 

Let’s see: hour 18 p.m. the departure and hour 19:16 p.m the return, the last one. I run but how can I dine at the 18:40 p.m.? I have to wash myself, to make still the laundry. So I eat again a kebab and I take also 5 plums, I need it. I take the shuttle and I arrive in my room. Shower, laundry, various medication, preparation of the knapsack and I start to eat! Today I didn’t have lunch. I go down to the reception and I ask if I can take the petit dejuner for tomorrow. Of course, at 4 €. Ok. It’s all done, except the preparation of tomorrow's stage. Yes, there is the stress of the organization together with these arid stages and the physical tiredness. To choose the path is not simple. There is who tells you to take a road and who tells you to take another one along the state highway. And all of this in French. Well it’s the same, maybe…I don't understand them when they speak quickly and they don't understand me when I speak normally.
